The Thomas Tradition
High quality and reliable equipment has been a way of life at Thomas since 1943 when the company first emerged as a farm equipment manufacturer. Acquired by the international McCain Group in 1964, Thomas diversified its line into industrial equipment with the introduction in 1969, of the world’s first skid steer loader to feature hydrostatic drive. Thomas has continued to be an innovator in the field and, after more than 35 years, the goals of the company remain the same: to provide our customers products with a high standard of quality, performance, reliability, serviceability and safety at an affordable cost.

THICKER STEEL
Thomas is tougher from the ground-up. The most significant difference is that the steel plating that makes up the body of Thomas skid steers is thicker than competitors. For example, the rear frame thickness of the Thomas 245 is up to 50% thicker than the competition.* This additional thickness means Thomas can take the impacts with walls, pillars, and other material that often happen when working in confined spaces.

THICKER BOOM HINGE PINS
Thomas' boom hinge pins are built thick (a full 1½") and tough so that they can absorb high impacts on the work site. This helps ensure a long and trouble free service life. Some competitors try to skimp by installing pins just 1¼" in diameter.

THICKER DOOR HINGE PINS
Thomas' heavy-duty 1" diameter hinge pins keep the door affixed to the loader, even during the roughest conditions. Competitors' hinge pins are often just a half-inch bolt.

THICKER BOOM ARM
Thomas uses heavy, high tensile rectangular steel tubing in their boom arm construction so it can take everything that's thrown at it. The 153, for example, has boom arms that are 5/16" thick - that's almost 67% thicker than the competition.*
